Made Man’s 25 Rules of Style

1. Get to know your tailor. No matter what you wear, he can make it look better.

Hackett London, fall/winter 2014

2. A suit jacket or sports coat should fit like a glove. Once buttoned, you should be able to slide a palm between your chest and the coat. Anything more, and the jacket is too big.

3. A tie should hit you at the belt buckle. Never higher or lower.

4. Your tie should never be wider than your lapel.

5. Pocket squares are a great addition to any suit. Just remember it should never match your tie, only complement it.

6. You should always see some of your shirt cuff once your sleeve ends. A quarter to a half-inch is plenty.

7. Suit pants should never pool at your shoes. They should have about a one-inch break.

8. A bulky wallet doesn’t make you look rich. Only carry the necessities: your ID, a credit card, and a few small bills.

9. When wearing leather shoes, your belt should always match. Brown with brown and black with black.

10. Dress shoes are a staple in any mans closet. Invest in a quality pair.

11. Keep your shoes clean and polished. Nothing looks worse than scuffed and faded toes.

12. You should never wear square-toed shoes. NEVER.

13. Jeans should distress on their own. Never buy them that way.

14. Never wear a belt and suspenders. Only one or the other.

15. Flip flops are for the beach only.

16. A plain black or white T-shirt never goes out of style.

17. Never button the bottom button of your jacket. You don’t want to look like a bellboy.

18. Pleats are not flattering. Stick to flat-front pants.

19. Socks are an extension of your personality. They don’t need to match your pants, but they should complement your whole outfit.

20. The basting stitches on the shoulders and the rear vents of your coat should be removed.

21. White socks are for the gym, not with a suit.

22. Lose the plastic watch. Invest in something refined and timeless.

23. Oversized watches are not flattering on anyone. Keep the dinner plates on the table.

24. It’s always best to show up overdressed rather than underdressed.

5 Home Exercises To Get You Cut

Is time your excuse too for hiding that beer-belly under layers of clothes? Well, most of us try this trick on others when we can't justify our unfit body. Lack of time leads to not getting to the gym, and hence fitness takes a back seat. But this new year let's make it happen. If you can't go to the gym, let's get the gym home. No, we are not asking you to buy the entire gym equipment and bring it home. These simple moves can get you cut and give you a body your colleagues will be envious of. Plus, you save on the gym membership money. 2014 should be a year to remember!

Pulling

Pulling is the best way to build a brilliant back, as that is fundamental to your entire upper body strength. It feels great to boast of an iron chest and build big arms, but you want overall strength. Exercises such as rows and pull-ups actually use your body weight against you. Being the two most primal exercises, you don't really need to go to a gym to do pull-ups.

Lunges

The way it is important to build your upper body, it is equally important to have a good lower body. And that is possible with the lunges. If you have dumbbells or barbells lying around at home, then use them as well. Contract your glutes and don't just rely on your quadmuscles.

Pushups

Old is gold! That's what works best when it comes to doing the ancient (but proven) method of keeping fit without having to hit the gym. Push-ups works as a great test for upper body strength. Do more reps or time yourself to see how many push-ups you can do in a given time. Make it fun.

Planks

Easy and cool as they may look, don't be surprised if you find them quite a task to do. Planks are perhaps one of the most basic exercises for abs, but they benefit your entire core. Target your upper and lower abs with standard planks, and target the obliques with side planks. They also help you improve your posture.

Cardio

The best part about indulging in cardio is that you have a plethora of things to choose from. Running, cycling, swimming-take your pick and you will see the fat in your body being replaced by energy. Train smart to train hard.

Reasons Why Having A Dog Helps You Score Chicks

Unless she’s the chosen one of the thousands of people who is allergic to dogs, chances are that your pooch will only bring her closer to you. A dog-owner would never have to find extraordinary ways to charm a woman. Instead of the regular places like the bar or a friend’s party, imagine you could even score a hot chick at the park while walking your dog. Even if you are a jerk in real life, you look like a million dollars with your dog around you. The sight of a man walking with his lovely wingman on fours is probably the sexiest for a single woman who loves dogs. Here are a few reasons why we think having a dog is much more than just having someone to guard your home.

Works As An Icebreaker

In an ideal situation, you really can’t be sure if a pretty woman would like to strike up a conversation with you when you are walking by yourself. But seeing you walk with a dog, women are more likely to approach you. Dogs are mostly people-friendly and that can be a real advantage. In fact, she might even offer to give you a hand next time your dog needs a shower in your garden!

Shows You’re Responsible

Owning a pet is a huge commitment in itself. And if your dog looks happy and healthy, she would automatically know you are not irresponsible. That’s a quality women dig when it comes to taking the next step.

Shows You Are Compassionate

Caring for an animal takes more effort than caring for a human. The level of empathy you portray also draws a woman towards you and can prove it to her that you are a keeper.

You Appear More Organized

If you own a dog, you don’t have a choice but to be organized. There’s your daily routine, and then there’s your dog. Every healthy dog needs his owner to be disciplined, and feed him or walk him on time every day. That’s a sure shot way to impress any woman instantly.

You Are Unlikely To Be Commitment-Phobic

A man who owns a dog promises to look after the pet till the last day. Every woman looks for a man who’s not scared to commit to a long-term relationship. Dedication and commitment are an important part of a dog owner’s characteristics.

You Are Better Groomed Than Most

Your dog’s grooming also affects yours, and that is a huge plus point. Women judge, and they judge way too soon. If you happen to walk around the park with a dog who is clean and looks well-kept, she’ll automatically assume you pay enough attention to your personal hygiene too. We don’t need to tell you where that’s going, right?

You Understand Unspoken Words

Well, wouldn’t every woman give her life to have a man like that in her life? Living with a pet means you understand their needs without them having to say it. Okay, dogs can’t say it and women can. But you get the drift, right? Most of the times, a man’s gotta understand what she doesn’t say. So, the moment she sees you know exactly when your dogs needs to go out to empty their bladder, she also knows that you will know exactly when she needs that diamond ring.
